FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to pay in advance?

The first session you register for must be paid for before your child attends camp.

What if my child will not be attending the full week, can you prorate my fees?

We staff based on the amount of campers that sign up per session therefore you must pay the full amount no matter how many days you plan on attending.

How much time will my child spend outside each day?

A major portion of the day is spent outside but outside and inside time is rotated as well as active activities and quiet shaded activities to assure that the kids and staff don’t get too much sun exposure.   Also, there is water available at all times and the groups take frequent water breaks.

What qualifications does your staff have to work with children?

Staff goes through YMCA procedures for hiring, including a thorough background check and reference check, and education verification.  They are also required to receive up to 40 hours of training by the YMCA that includes child abuse recognition and prevention, ages and stages of development, behavior management, CPR/First Aid/BBP certification and FBI check.

Is Lunch provided? Order food, microwave food, refrigerated food?

Breakfast and Lunch will be provided for everyday except Wednesday for the fieldtrip.

What to bring?

Lunch, sunscreen, water bottle, swimsuit, towel, and bag labeled with your child’s name for all their belongings.

Will my child get a camp shirt and when will they need to wear it?

A shirt is included with your registration fees and every child will get one.  You can purchase an extra shirt for $5.  Your child must wear their shirt on ALL field trips in order to attend the trip for that day.

Can my child stay at the YMCA on field trip days?

No, there will not be staff here to supervise those children who do not go.

What if they can’t swim?

Every child is given a swim test and if they do not pass they must stay in the shallow end of the pool.  There are two lifeguards and a staff member on duty at all times to assure their safety.

Will the children be taking naps?

There is not a scheduled nap time but we do have quiet activities planned throughout the day to allow for rest.

Can parents visit throughout the day?  Go on field trips?

Parents may visit to observe their child but may not interact with other children unless they have filled out a volunteer application, had a Criminal Background Check and had volunteer training.  They must go through the same process to attend a field trip as a volunteer.
